THE SPIRIT OF THE JOURNEY

Love of heritage

A gentle escape between stone villages, scrubland and the banks of the Gardon.
We gain altitude in Castillon, we savor village life in Vers-Pont-du-Gard,
before discovering, almost secretly, the Pont du Gard as the highlight.

A gradual ride, slowly building in intensity…
culminating in an unforgettable finale.

STEP BY STEP

The route

An immersion in the Golden Triangle of the Gardon, where stone, water and time have been in dialogue for more than two thousand years.
An elegant stroll among Roman ruins, fragrant scrubland and hilltop villages.

START · KM 0

Start of Remoulins

The Pat'roule sets off, the Gardon is never far away, we leave the village along the Gardon, with this immediate feeling of freshness and escape.

We leave the village gently, heading towards the heights.

Head towards Castillon-du-Gard , a village shaped by blond stone.

📍Starting point

STEP 1 · KM 5

Castillon-du-gard

The road climbs gently, between scrubland and dry stone walls.
The scent of pine trees accompanies the first few kilometers.

Then the village appears, placed there, as if suspended.

Castillon-du-Gard

This is where the blocks for the Pont du Gard were quarried. Discover the old wash houses and Roman quarries, witnesses to ancient ingenuity.

One of the most beautiful balconies overlooking the Pont du Gard.

• Cobbled streets, ancient arches, golden stone as far as the eye can see
• Exceptional panoramic views of the valley and the Pont du Gard
• Peaceful, almost timeless atmosphere

We take the time to get a little lost. This is where it all really begins.

The descent is gentle.

🌳Garrigue - 🌻 Nature - ⛪ Charming village

STEP 2 - KM 8

Vers-pont-du-gard

Change of atmosphere: here, the South is more populated.

• Small, lively squares
• Terraces shaded by plane trees
• Village atmosphere, simple and welcoming

It's the perfect time for a coffee break, an ice cream… or just watching the time go by.

We're back on the road…
Traffic disappears, nature reclaims its rights.

And then, around a bend, the road opens up… and suddenly:

PONT DU GARD OLIVIER

STEP 3 - KM 11

Le pont du Gard

Impressive, even when you think you know him.

• Break by the Gardon river
• Possibility of crossing the bridge on foot
• Must-see photo spots

Did you know that?
This Roman aqueduct supplied Nîmes with water over more than 50 km more than 2,000 years ago.

BACK

Remoulins

The loop closes gently, following the Gardon river.

The last few kilometers are easy, almost suspended.
We ride to the rhythm of the cicadas, between water and light.

Arrival at the starting point.
We get off the Solex, but we keep a little of that gentleness with us.
